What does eco friendly actually mean
Okay so you’ve seen a thousand different products claiming to be eco friendly, and you have not a clue which is telling the truth and which is taking the piss, making up claims of eco friendliness. I’ll explain, the basics so you’ll know how to figure whether it’s a win and or if it needs to get in the bin.
Eco friendly means little to no harm to the environment so products that are eco friendly don’t harm the environment or there is low level of environmental harm.
Well no shit Sherlock that’s what it means how do we measure environmental harm caused products. Ok ok I’m getting to it.
Independent standards the standards used vary by sector Global organic textile standard (GOTS) and OEKO-TEX STANDARD 100 are two of the most common standards in the textile industry. Some of these standards do incorporate ethical standards (ie good for the planet and it’s people) but they don’t have to.
These standards are administered by having someone come out and test the products and observe the standards in place then determine whether it meets the required standard for the certification.
Every single sector of products has different standards so I can’t list them all here but I am trying to give you a simple no bullshit understanding of eco friendly as a concept so you can better research for yourself.

If we all spoke out about the abuses again the people and our planet that are woven into the textile industry like a venomous snake We could stop them from happening and work together to create a better system an ecofriendly and fairtrade system.

Demand a new textile industry
One that doesn't let abuse wind itself throughout this beautiful industry like a parasite poisoning it letting the corporate giants sit with blood on there hands. Blood of the makers and of the earth.
Both of whom suffered heavily at the hands of corporate greed
